Move to top What is Celltradeusa.com?

Celltradeusa.com is the world's first company to offer consumers a way to Get Out™ of their cell phone contracts without paying hefty early termination fees of $150-$250 dollar per line.

Move to top Who can use Celltradeusa.com?

Anyone can use Celltradeusa.com that has signed a cell phone or wireless service contract.

Move to top How does the Celltradeusa.com process work?

Celltradeusa.com is a match-making service. If you’re trying to get out of a cell phone contract, Get Out users register to create an ad on our site. The objective is to connect with someone who’s looking for a shorter term contract + incentives. (Get In user) You will be doing what’s called a called a contract transfer, transfer of responsibility, assumption of liability, transfer of service, name change, etc., directly with the provider. All major providers allow contract transfers. After the Get Out and Get In users finalize the negotiation over plan and incentives, they contact the provider to complete the transfer process. The individual wishing to take over the contract submits a credit application to the service provider by phone or going to a corporate retail location. The company will make a decision on the credit worthiness of the applicant. If approved, transfer of responsibility documents are prepared, signed, or verbal consent is given by the Celltradeusa.com original Get Out member and the Get In member who is assuming the contract. The provider will let you know when the transfer process is complete. Each provider has very similar transfer processes; however, each slightly varies. You can get a more detailed breakdown of the transfer process in your account space after you register.

Move to top Does Celltradeusa.com cover my provider?

We charge a one-time, non-recurring fee of $19.99 when you are ready to unlock your inbox to communicate with your Get In leads.

Move to top Do carriers have a problem with contract transfers?

Service providers are happy to assist you with a contract transfer of responsibility. Carriers have been doing transfers for years. Before Celltradeusa.com, cell phone customers had few people to ask to take over their contract. Not anymore! We provide thousands of potential opportunities every day! Keep in mind too that providers are actually benefiting. They are replacing an unhappy customer with a happy one. They are not losing their original acquisition cost because you are providing them with a new customer. The Get In user gets a shorter term contract, but they can be with the provider for years. It’s a win-win!

Move to top What if my provider says they don’t offer contract transfers?

Every once in awhile a user will get this line from a customer service rep, usually a new employee. You are not changing the name on the account to someone else’s name. The entire account obligation will be transferred into the new customer’s name. Politely ask to speak with a supervisor. Let them know that you’d like to cancel your contract. They will then tell you about the early termination fee or ask you if you have a “friend or relative” who can take over the contract. Voila! If you got a match on Celltradeusa.com, you are ready to start the transfer process over the phone.

Move to top Why do I need Celltradeusa.com to help transfer contract responsibility?

Celltradeusa.com can help you get out of your cell phone contract without paying early termination fees. We are the first company to offer this service. Move to top Can I cancel my cell phone contract prior to the full term of the contract?

Yes. Either pay the early termination fees plus additional fees the provider will charge on top of that, or find someone to take over the remaining months of the contract. It’s that simple! Our match-making service gives our users the tools to harnesses the contract transfer option that all major providers allow. We can help you find someone to take over your contract, or help you find an unbeatable deal with shorter term contract.

Move to top How can I get more information on the contract transfer process?

You can find more information and a step by step breakdown of the Get Out transfer process via the "transfer" tab in your account space. You can always call your respective provider and speak with the customer retention department about their transfer guidelines.

Move to top Can I keep my phone number if I'm taking over a contract?

Yes, you should have no problems if you are presently month to month in another service and you would like to transfer your number into an account or contract that you want to take over.

Move to top Can I keep my phone number if someone else is taking over my contract?

Call your provider to ask them specifically about this issue. We see them allow customers keep their number and avoid the early termination fees. Providers apply it too inconsistently to tell you definitively that this is the case. Currently, the providers have a policy that allows you to keep your number, but you have to pay the early termination fee to keep it. They make you decide what's more important--the number or the early termination fees. If you want to avoid paying the early termination fees by doing a "contract transfer", the provider makes you give up your number to the new person. This new person will 9 out of 10 times change your old number to a local number; thus, your old number is thrown right back into the system. According to provider policy, the "number" is the contract. When the number is ported out, it renders the current account dead. They argue that someone cannot now take over a "dead" account. In the event that the provider will not let you keep the number and avoid the fees through a contract transfer, you have to determine whether you number is worth $150-$250 per line. Some people will need to keep the same number, but we find that most of our users don't feel their number is worth that much money.

Move to top How does Celltradeusa.com protect customer information?

Get Out™ FAQ

Move to top How can Celltradeusa.com get me out of my contract without paying early termination fees?

Celltradeusa.com has developed a unique match-making system that will help you find someone to take over the remaining months of your cell phone contract. After you find someone to take over your existing contract, they will assume full financial responsibility completely absolving you from any future liability. You will be completely free and clear to choose your next wireless solution. Consider taking advantage of one of our many shorter term contracts as a Get In user. It would be a good idea, but not mandatory to Get Out.

Move to top Why would somebody want to take over my contract?

You would be surprised at how many consumers dislike two year cell phone contracts. If they can pick up a plan with a shorter term contract, no $35 activation fees, and get some free incentives in the process like a free phone or accessories, they will be very happy. And you get out without paying early termination fees. It’s a win-win.

Move to top Are there any fees for Get Out users?

You can post your ad for free to gauge demand on your offer. When you start getting leads and want to unlock your emails from Get In users, we charge a one-time $19.99 service fee that gives you unlimited access to your inbox and all future leads. Keep in mind that Get In users prefer fast responses.

Move to top What are the early termination fees I would save by using Celltradeusa.com?

The major carriers have the following early termination fees. You can always call your provider to verify their fees or check your original contract terms.

    Alltel: $200 per phone line
    AT&T: $175 per phone line
    CellularOne: $200 per phone line
    Centennial: $250 per phone line
Cingular: $150 per phone line or up to $240 per phone line in NYC
    T-Mobile: $200 per phone line
Verizon Wireless: $175 per phone line

Move to top What types of incentives should I offer to entice someone to take over my contract?

Most of our Get Out users will offer some type of incentive to entice Get In users. The most common incentive is a free phone(s). In most cases, you won’t be able to use the old phone with a new provider anyway so it makes sense to offer it as an incentive. Other incentives might include accessories, sometimes cash, and whatever creative stuff you can come up with. We’ll leave that up to you. *Staff highly recommends offering incentives, uploading photos and creating a good notes section. It often increases response rates significantly.

Move to top What if I want to charge the Get In user for my high-end phone?

Some Get Out users with a super high-end phone will charge the Get In user, but at a major discount where the deal still makes sense financially. You would simply include the asking price in your listing comments. Keep in mind that Get In users will be looking for the most attractive offer, and they will be actively comparing your deal to others. Don’t overprice yourself. The goal is to get out of the contract.

Move to top What is the actual contract transfer process?

Once you register, create, and publish your listing, it will receive nationwide exposure. Get In users search our listings for a plan that has the right combination of plan, promotion, months remaining, and incentives. When a Get In user is interested in your plan, they will send you a message. You will see a new message notice after you login into your account space. You’ll also receive an email alert to the email address on file reminding you to login to view your new message. You can publish your ad for free to gauge demand on your offer. However, once you want to unlock any messages, there is a one-time 19.99 service fee for unlimited access to your inbox. In addition, you can access a general breakdown of the transfer process once you gain full access to your account space by clicking on the transfer instructions link. Once you have connected with a qualified Get In user, the exact process will vary depending on the carrier. Once you find a match, the Get Out user initiates the cancellation process by calling their respective provider to let them know they would like to cancel. They will ask you if you have a friend or relative who would like to assume the contract. You can avoid paying the early termination fees because you have a qualified customer who will take over the remaining months of the contract.

Move to top How long does it take to do a contract transfer?

Get Out users can get leads instantaneously after they publish their listing. We see users with solid offers getting out within a day, 1-2 weeks for good offers, and a month or more depending on the individual’s offer. The turnover rate is based on the quality of your offer, quality of your listing, ad copy/title, how many months left on the contract, carrier, plan, and incentives. Once you find a match, each carrier has their own time frame for transfer of contract responsibility. Some carriers can complete the transfer process in as little as ten minutes. The timing is dependent upon three factors. The first factor is the credit decision process for the Get In user, which is usually very fast to complete. Second, the carrier will process the transfer documents, which also takes a short amount of time. Third, the provider will require a signature or verbal consent over the phone to go through with the transfer. Typically, figure when calling or going to a corporate retail store, the entire process will take about 20 minutes to an hour. See the list below for more information. If you'd like information on the transfer process for a specific service provider, check out your account space for more information, or call the provider directly to inquire about canceling the contract without paying early termination fees via contract transfer.

Move to top Is there any “secondary liability” for the original contract holder once the transfer is complete?

No, there is no secondary responsibility with cell phone contracts like a car lease or sub-leasing an apartment to someone else. Once the Get In user qualifies and signs the transfer docs or verbally agrees to the terms with the carrier, as long as you send the promised incentives, you are free and clear. The Get In user puts the contract under their name, credit, and social. If they default on future payments, you are NOT responsible as long as you completed the transfer process with the provider.

Move to top Can I do a long distance transfer with someone out of my state?

Yes. After you find the right Celltradeusa.com member, inform the carrier that you want to do a transfer with someone that is out of state. It is called a “long distance transfer”. The Get In user will be changing the area code to his or her local number, or porting their old number that is on month to month, at the point of transfer.

Move to top How do I communicate with a potential Get In user?

If a Get In user is interested in your plan, they will fill out the message box on the bottom of your listing. You can access this message in your Celltradeusa.com internal email system when you are fully activated. There is a one-time 19.99 fee to gain full access to your inbox. You will also receive an email alert notifying you to check your email when you receive a new message. We recommend checking for messages often. Get In users want fast responses. They are sometimes contacting several members at once. Click on “My Messages”, and click the reply button next to the relevant message. We recommend keeping all communication within the Celltradeusa.com system for organization and customer support purposes.

Move to top Are Get Out and Get In members free to negotiate any of their own terms concerning contract transfers?

Yes. Get Out members are free to offer cash or other incentives as a part of the initial deal making in the match-making process. These agreements are made between the individual Get Out and Get In members; therefore Celltradeusa.com does not have any control in these details and assumes no responsibility for such arrangements. Both users will ultimately have to abide by provider policies when carrying out the actual transfer process.

Move to top Can I post multiple cell phone lines or a family plan?

Yes. You can post multiple lines, family plans, and business lines. You would fill out your listing with your primary line. You can add up to 10 lines. Any additional lines should be detailed in your comments section.

Move to top Can I transfer my add-on line in a family plan or shared plan?

The transfer tends to go a lot smoother when a user tries to transfer the entire plan; however, our users have success with transferring add-on lines too. When users want to split up family plan add-ons, they tend to have an easier time with someone picking up the line already in the same network. Sometimes, Get In users will want to take over your add-on line without already having a line. They will usually have to establish a new plan, no activation fee, and some type of incentive. Call your provider to go over a few scenarios.

Move to top Can I get out of my wireless card contract using your service?

Yes. You would list your air card like any other plan. Sign up and create your listing. You would also be responsible for shipping the device and any incentives.

Move to top Do I have to offer my phone as an incentive to do a contract transfer with a Get In user?

You don't have to give up your phone as an incentive, but it increases your chances of enticing a Get In user. Most phones, unless they are unlocked, will not work with the new provider network anyway. If you aren’t giving away a phone, you should another incentive like cash.

Move to top What must I do after my contract has been taken over by the Get In user?

If your carrier uses SIM cards, you must send the SIM card to person taking over your contract. You should delete all contact information from the SIM card before sending it. Remember to delete all contact information from the cell phone if you are including one in the deal. Ship out the promised incentives immediately after you get confirmation from the provider that the transfer has been completed. We highly recommend shipping the incentives through UPS, DHL, or FedEX so you can provide a tracking number for the Get In user.

Move to top Once somebody takes over my plan, do I have to “swap” or take over another plan?

No, you are actually not “swapping” or “selling” your cell phone contract, you are transferring your cell phone contract into someone else’s name utilizing the existing carrier’s transfer policies. You need to focus on getting out first. Once you Get Out, you are free to get a cell phone plan from anywhere. But, why not consider taking over someone else’s short-term contract? You’re a cell phone contract transferring expert by now.

Move to top Should I ship the incentives to the Get In user before the transfer is complete?

No. You ship the incentives after the provider gives you the go ahead once the transfer process is complete.

Move to top How should I ship the incentives after the transfer is complete?

If you are giving your phone or accessories as a part of the deal, you will be required to ship your SIM card and/or phone to the Get In user who takes over your phone. Get In users will request that the promised incentives be sent via commercial carrier with tracking via UPS, DHL, FedEx, USPS, with full insurance.

Move to top How does the transfer process work with ATT & Verizon?

ATT will transfer a two year contract, but the Get In user taking over the contract will get an 11 month contract regardless of the amount months left on the contract. For example, if am assuming someone’s contract with 18 months left on a AT&T contract, you benefit because it gets knocked down to 11 months with a transfer. On the other hand, if you assume a 2-11 month contract, for example, you would still receive the benefit of a two year plan, no activation fees, incentives, but you’ll take over 11 months. Verizon has a similar policy requiring a minimum of 12 months with their “change of financial responsibility.” Verizon will transfer a two year contract, but no matter how many months there are on the contract remaining, they require 12 months when doing a “change of financial responsibility.” For example, if am assuming someone’s contract with 18 months left on a Verizon contract, you benefit because it gets knocked down to 12 months with a transfer. On the other hand, if you assume a 2-11 month contract, for example, you would still receive the benefit of a two year plan, no activation fees, incentives, but you’ll take over 12 months. AT&T has a similar policy requiring a minimum of 11 months with their “transfer of service.”

Get In™ FAQ

Move to top Why would I want to use Celltradeusa.com to take over someone else’s cell phone contract?

You can find a great cell phone plan with a much shorter contract than two years Avoid paying activation fees of $35-$45. You can also pick up some nice incentives in the process like free phone(s), accessories, and maybe cash. It all depends on what the Get Out user if offering on their listing.

Move to top How do I find a cell phone plan on Celltradeusa.com?

You can browse our listings by carrier and by phone model. You can narrow your search results by using the search filters. Choose your criteria using the pull down menus, hit search, and all the search results will display. You can always search by keyword or listing id if you know exactly what you’re looking for. We always recommend browsing through the listings to see your options. Always make sure you do your homework before taking over a new plan. Ask friends and family in your calling area(s) to get an idea about cell phone reception. You can also set up email alerts in your account space that will notify you when a Get Out user signs up with something that matches your preferences.

Move to top How much would I save in activation fees if I use Celltradeusa.com?

When you sign up for new service at a corporate store or a authorized dealer, you will be charged on average $35-$45 activation fees per line. If you are taking over a contract from a Celltradeusa Get Out user, you don’t pay activation fees because they lines were already activated.

Move to top Are there any Celltradeusa fees for Get In users?

No. Celltradeusa.com’s service is 100% free for you. There might be some instances where the Get Out user has such an amazing plan they try to sell it. Sometimes if the Get Out user has a super high end phone, they might try to get some money for it. Otherwise, there are never any fees for the Get In user on our end to use the Get In service.

Move to top What should I do once I find a plan I want?

Fill out the message box at the bottom of the Get Out listing to contact the owner of the plan. In this message, you should express your interest to take over their plan or ask any questions that you may have. The Get Out user should respond to as soon as possible. However, sometimes there might be a slight delay in getting back to you. They have to log into their account to read your message. If the Get Out user does not respond within a reasonable period of time, we recommend finding similar plans and reaching out to another Get Out user. There is no obligation to trade when you contact a Get Out user. You are free to contact and message as many Get Out users as you like. However, the general rule of thumb is to contact Get Out listings with serious inquiries about deals you’d really consider taking over. It makes the process a lot more efficient for everyone involved. You will then be able to proceed with the most attractive offer.

Move to top Why haven’t I heard back from the messages that I sent to Get Out users?

Our service is 100% free for you, but there is a one-time fee of $19.99 when Get Out users want to unlock their Get In inquiries. Some of our users wait until they have 2-3 inquiries before they decide to pay in full. The user also could be in negotiation with someone else. Some users haven't deleted their account and the system takes a little time to purge with no activity. Please see the time stamp on the listing to see when the user was last logged into the system. If you don’t hear back from the user within a reasonable time period, you might want to consider contacting another listing owner.

Move to top What is the actual transfer process when I agree to proceed with the transfer?

After you make contact with a Get Out user, the Get Out user will try to vet your interest. They are trying to find a transfer match who will be able to qualify from a credit standpoint. If you have had service before with a good payment history, you should be good to go. If you have insufficient or bad credit, you can still participate, but you’ll probably need to put down a security deposit. It’s the same qualification process as getting a new plan in a store, but now you’re taking over a plan with less commitment + incentives.

You should confirm the details about the offer with the Get Out user.  Also, get on the same page with the promised incentives.  Once you both agreed to move forward, the Get Out user will call their carrier to initiate the cancellation process.  Depending on the carrier, you will need to be available to speak with a customer representative by phone for credit purposes.  Have all your info available including id, social, home address, phone number, and you’ll either verbally consent to the transfer over the phone or sign the transfer doc at your local corporate store.  The carrier’s rep will walk you through the transfer process step by step.

Move to top What if I have credit issues and I want to take over a shorter term contract?

Cell phone carriers will work with you so that you can take over a shorter term contract. In some cases, you might have to lay out a security deposit to Get In to the new plan. You can take the money that you saved on the free phone and apply it towards the deposit.

Move to top How do I know that the Get Out user will send the promised incentives after we complete the contract transfer?

It is extremely rare to encounter a Get Out user who fails to ship the promised incentives or SIM. They are accepting full responsibility to fulfill their end of the bargain in our terms of service. In most cases, they can’t use the phone or accessories with any new plan anyway. We have found that our Get Out users are very qualified because they would have to be in good payment standing with the carrier to do a transfer. Moreover, the people who user our service tend to be very progressive in their thinking ;) In the event there is an issue and you are not able to resolve the matter, Celltradeusa.com will intervene on your behalf. You can request that the incentives get shipped UPS, DHL, FedEX and request a tracking number. For added safety, you can request that the merchandise be insured by the shipping company. Please note that if the incentives do not arrive on the day, consider weekends, holidays, and slight delays in shipment as a possible cause. You also can track packages online with a tracking number. If you are concerned with the functionality, send a text message to the Get Out user before the transfer and have them read back or email the message back to you.

Move to top What about phones and SIM cards?

Celltradeusa.com requires the Get Out user to send the promised incentives after the provider gives confirmation that the transfer is complete. The Get Out user would send the SIM card or phone to complete the plan transfer, if the plan includes a free phone. You should request that the Get Out user send the promised incentives, if any, through UPS, DHL, FedEX, USPS with a tracking and full insurance.

Move to top Do I keep the Get Out user’s number when I take over the contract?

You can change the number to a local area code with the provider at the point of transfer.

Move to top Does the Get In user have to provide any personal information?

When you find a plan that you would like to take over, we require that you register to contact the plan owner. We require registration so that you can communicate easily with plan owners through our messaging system. We recommend providing some basic contact info in your message to the Get Out user. You can find the message box on the bottom of the actual listing. Also, the carrier will require standard customer info to take over the plan when you go through the transfer process, and the Get Out user and Celltradeusa.com does not have access to that information.
